Summary
"GELATINE: Austrian. GELATINE was a Double Agent (DA) who was established in England before the outbreak of war in 1939. GELATINE initially worked for B2 section where her access to Anglo-German organisations proved useful. She was subsequently recommended to the Germans (in Lisbon) by the DA TRICYCLE and was accepted as an agent by them. Her tasking was primarily political and based on her social contacts. Communication was by secret writing and subsequently by micro-dots. The Germans proved unable (or unwilling) to establish effective communication, tasking and payment arrangements; and GELATINE showed very little aptitude for acquiring useful political information via her social contacts. As an agent and DA (notionally a member of TRICYCLE's 'TRIBAGE' group of DAs) GELATINE's overall contribution was modest."--National Archives website.
