Summary
The Krupp Case collection consists of proceedings and supporting documents in English and German, some in German only. The collection is not indexed. The defendents were all officials of Fried. Krupp A.G., Essen, and its successor, Fried. Krupp, Essen. The original family enterprise of Fried. Krupp was founded in 1812. It was transformed into a corporation in 1903, which was succeeded in Dec. 1943 by an unincorporated firm in accordance with a special Hitler decree.
The Krupp Case was one of three economic cases tried by the AMT. The others were the Flick Case and the I.G. Farben Case. The defendents were charged with various crimes against humanity, but the focus of the trial was the Krupp empire's involvement in the building of the German war machine after WWI and the high position of the defendents in the financial, industrial, and economic life of Germany. Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach, the father of Alfried Felix Alwyn, was originally charged but was deemed to be mentally and physically unfit to stand trial. The other defendents were: Alfried Felix Alwyn Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach, Ewald Oskar Ludwig Löser, Eduard Houdremont, Erich Müller, Friedrich Wilhelm Janssen, Karl Heinrich Pfirsch, Max Otto Ihn, Karl Adolf Ferdinand Eberhardt, Heinrich Leo Korschan, Friedrich von Bülow, Werner Wilhelm Heinrich Lehmann, Hans Albert Gustav Kupke.
