Historical Data
One of 12 war crimes trials of Nazis conducted by the American Military Tribunals (AMT) after World War II, in Nuremberg, Germany. The trial of 23 officials of the I.G. Farben enterprise (Interessengemeinschaft Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft) was conducted from May 3, 1947 to July 30, 1948. The I.G. Farben Case was the third largest case in the Nuremberg trials, after the IMT trial and the AMT Ministries Case. It was the second of three AMT industrialist or economic cases which focused on Hitler's war preparations and Germany's slave labor system. After the war, I.G. Farben, a chemical manufacturer, was placed under the commanding officer of each zone of the occupation; in 1948, the American and British parts were joined together for control; in 1952, the entire enterprise was broken up into 5 independent companies.
