Summary
1641 Abstract of the Laws of New England, published in London. Included was a table of contents which listed the ten chapters; margin notes with Biblical citations were printed next to some of the laws. Of note, some copies also contained a manuscript communication regarding this abstract, in which the author suggested that this document might have been written by Sir Henry Vane, the Younger; a poem about Vane, by John Milton, was also included.
Note
This abstract was proposed by John Cotton but never adopted as the law of Massachusetts. See Mass. Hist. Soc. collections. 3d series, volume 8, pages 191-215.
