Summary
Handwritten report of a committee of the Lords at the Council Chamber at Whitehall, August 28, 1760, regarding acts concerning the province of Pennsylvania. The document begins "Your Majesty having been pleased by your orders in Council of the 16th of February and 13th of March last to refer unto this committee nineteen acts passed in the province of Pensilvania in the years 1758 and 1759 as likewise a petition of the proprietaries of the said province complaining of eleven of the said acts, and praying to be heard thereupon." Topics covered include financing for the trustees to lend money to Colonel John Hunter; the hiring of carriages; choice of inspectors in the counties of Chester, Lancaster, York, Cumberland, Berks, and Northampton; recovering warranty and survey for real estate; proprietaries Thomas Penn and Richard Penn, and agents Benjamin Franklin and Robert Charles; prevention of exportation of some enslaved persons; and prevention of abuses in the Indian trade. There are various edits throughout the document.
