Header: At a Council held at Philadelphia Tuesday 20 July 1756. Present: Governor Morris, five Englishmen with Native American Captain Newcastle, a Jersey native as an interpreter, and three Delawares. Newcastle brought a message from the King of the Delawares: He was waiting for the Governor at a Council fire at the forks of the Delaware River. Morris told the group there was smallpox in town, so perhaps the meeting should be out of town. Newcastle said the King was anxious to meet, but the Governor said he had to meet with the Assembly before he could set a date.
