Summary
Conference held by Colonl Bouquet with the Chiefs of the Delaware Indians at Pittsburgh, December 4, 1758. Present: the Col. and several officers, George Croghan, agent of Sir William Johnson, Capt. Henry Montour, interpreter. Bouquet explained the General had to go back east, but he had been left to explain the new situation. The British were not there to take the Delaware hunting grounds, but to bring traders. The Delaware should drive the French out of the country and destroy their forts. Then they should tell all the western tribes about the peace treaty at Easton and send representatives to Philadelphia in the spring.
