Note
Handwritten letter from Simon Greenleaf transmitting a copy of the United States Declaration of Independence to the Antiquarian Society. The letter indicates: "I take the freedom to forward to you for the Antiquarian Society, one of the original hand-bills announcing the declaration of Independence in 1776. It was posted up in Newburyport - and afterwards preserved by my grandfather, the late Hon. Jonathan Greenleaf, who gave it to me. ... Simon Greenleaf." (Page [1]). A printed copy of the Declaration of Independence is included.
