Summary
The letter was from Shamokin. Job Chilliway had arrived from up river. He told about a great council held about eight weeks ago with Mingoes as the leaders. They discussed their quandary: the French gave them the hatchet to attack the English and the English had given them the hatchet to attack the French. During the deliberations, the Shawnee sent a message inquiring if the group regarded the English as friends. More councils were planned to decide once and for all--Job thought they would opt for the French. Job was to deliver an order to Teedyuscung to show up at a council in Wyoming. Job thought there were about 700 men ready to fight.
