Summary
A message from the Governor to the Susquehannah Indians [delivered] by Newcastle, Jagrea?, and William Lacquis delivered in Council 26 April 1756. The Governor had received a message from William Johnson, greatly respected by the Indians, wherein he explained the steps taken to rein in the Delaware. The had agreed to stop attacking and to deliver their prisoners to the Six Nations. In turn, the Six Nations would persuade the English not to retaliate against the Delaware, but to conclude a peace treaty and move on. The Governor wanted those Delaware to know that the Delaware living among the English had not been harmed. He wanted the three men to travel around to the various Indian groups and tell them hostilities were over so no one would make an unnecessary aggressive move.
