Summary
Letter from Peter Bard, Commissary at Fort Augusta in Pennsylvania, to Deputy Governor William Denny. At head of letter is text, "Fort Augusta, July the 1st, 1758." Bard discusses supplying Indians with provisions, noting that he is following the directions of the governor in "continuing to supply the friendly Indians that come to trade with provisions." Also mentioned are batteaus used to transport cannon powder, etc. Additional topics and people mentioned include Fort Hunter, Colonel [Henry] Bouquet, Sir Allen McClain, the companies of Capt. Eastbourn and Capt. Jackson, Capt. Trump, the French building a fort on the west branch of a river, the lack of doctors and surgeons, Wm. Peters, Lieut. Broadhead [Brodhead?], a flag with Union written with ink in the middle of it, Capt. Patterson, and Indian [Segra?], who "returned to the fort beat in a most cruel manner, of which he died the next day." Bard concludes noting a report of the stores (not included).
