Summary
Proprietors of Pennsylvania's observations on Sir William Johnson's letter to the Lords of Trade. December 11, 1756. Johnson had accused the proprietors of causing the Indian war by cheating the Indians by various land purchases. The Proprietors responded with a history of its land purchases and treaties about settlements. The assertion that they were building forts to control land was baseless; the Indians had asked for the forts. From the earliest days, the Proprietors had always insisted on purchasing land from the Indians, rather just taking it. More information would be on the way when it was copied.
