Summary
Their Excellencies the Lords Justices in Council. The Colony of Pennsylvania had sent a petition. It had no arms or ammunition to resist any attack or uprising. The Quakers had frustrated attempts to develop a plan for defense. The petitioners lamented the potential ruin of a valuable colony and asked His Majesty to order the preparation of a plan. The Lords considered the law and other information and decided each colony was to provide for its own defense, but they did not have to pay for it. The Lords Committee for Trade and Plantations was to draft an order requiring governors to develop a list of what they needed for defense to be submitted to His Majesty.
