Summary
Copy Governor's speech to the Assembly, 16 November 1758. The Governor handed out a copy of a letter from General Forbes. Circumstances may have prevented the General from capturing Fort Duquesne, but he planned to maintain a winter quarters so he could strike early in the spring. However, if he could take the Fort, he would need to establish a garrison. Either way, he needed men, money, and supplies. All the money sent earlier has been exhausted. Many Indians came to the Council at Easton. The Governor fulfilled his part of the bargain and the Indians promised to return the captives. He will send the minutes as soon as they are available.
