Summary
Copy of General Monckton's letter to Mr. Richard Peters .The battoes [boats] arrived from Venango after 11 1/2 days of difficult travel. There was an ambush recently that killed a few men. There were about 700 Indians of assorted tribes around the Fort. Teedyuscung was there, but he was constantly drunk and gave all the wampum belts to the women. [Those belts were supposed to be for the big Council coming up soon.] Monckton remarked on deaths and desertions in the colonies. Signed, Robert Monckton.
