Summary
Sir William Johnson, May 18, 1763 on the Connecticut business. Johnson had received Thomas Penn's January letter just recently; he was glad everything worked out with the Delaware. He had been visited several times by the Susquehanna Company, who even offered money, but he knew their claim was specious and it would be literally fatal to them to try to settle in the area. The group was determined to continue, but the Earl of Egremont had written the Governor of Connecticut with instructions to prevent the group from leaving until the King had ruled. A deputation from the Six Nations had recently left for Connecticut to try to prevent the unfair settlement. As Johnson signed off, he said he was sending the letter via a friend.
