Note
At head of text: "Janvier 12, 1855, Plantation Madawaska, Comte d'Aroostook, Etat du Maine." The petition is addressed to the Maine Senate and House of Representatives.
"The humble request that your petitioner, the undersigned, presents to you for the purpose of securing the aid of Government to construct a machine for carding wool, shows that your petitioner desires to improve one of the most retired sections of the State, by a machine which may create great manufactures, with which the County of Aroostook, or at least, this part of the comity on the river St. John, is not provided--some machines for wool, for want of which the people suffer."--Page 2.
Includes the English translation of a petition in support of Edward Guy submitted by forty citizens of Madawaska.
