Summary
On February 8, 1842, the Committee on Education, in response to two orders, reported a bill: An Act concerning the powers of school committees, and the erection of school houses, 1842. School committees could dismiss students under 4 or over 21 and could dismiss teachers. If a school district refused to build a school, five or more voters could tell the selectmen to do it.
