"Be it enacted ... Sec. 1. One half of all monies received by the treasurer and receiver general of this Commonwealth, from the secretary of the treasury of the United States, for deposite within this Commonwealth, in pursuance of the act of Congress, entitled "an act to regulate the deposites of the public money," approved on the twenty-third day of June, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-six, shall, from time to time, as soon as may be after receiving the same, be deposited with such of the several cities, towns and districts of this Commonwealth, in proportion to their respective population ..."--Page 5.
