Note
Copy of letter from the governor of New York to John Davis, governor of Massachusetts, and dated 17th Nov. 1834. The letter is signed: W.L. Marcy. Included is a copy of a resolution of the New York Senate requesting that the governor of New York correspond with the governors of other states "with a view to suppress in each at the same time the issue of bank bills of a denomination less than five dollars; and that he communicate on the subject to the next legislature" (unnumbered page), with concurrence of the House. The purpose of the proposal was to "diminish the disproportion between paper and metalic money." (Page 1).
