Summary
March 20, 1832 communication from Massachusetts Governor Levi Lincoln to the Senate and House of Representatives. Lincoln references a letter received from Governor Smith of Maine demanding the entire sum of a third of the militia settlement from the federal government. The Maine governor indicates that Massachusetts should pay the expenses of collecting the payment. Lincoln challenges this approach and indicates that a statement was sent to Governor Smith.
Note
The message is signed at end: Levi Lincoln, Council Chamber, March 20, 1832.
