Summary
The Massachusetts House Committee on Education studied whether some or all of the money from the federal government for costs related to the War of 1812 should be used for a fund for public schools. The Committee indicates such a fund is not a good idea, as persons place more value on services they have to pay for, including public schools. Also, the fund would provide only $14,000 per year, which would not provide adequate assistance.
Note
Signed at end: For the Committee, Thomas A. Greene.
