Summary
A joint committee of the Massachusetts Legislature was asked to explore where the state could save money and to consider petitions from several towns and executive departments and the militia. The report notes that several issues that been taken up by other committees. The report concludes that "as it respects the other subjects of expenditure, your Committee are not aware that at the present time any considerable retrenchment can with propriety be made." (Page 3).
