"The subscribers, inhabitants of East Bridgewater, in the county of Plymouth, would respectfully represent, that they are informed there is before your honorable bodies a petition of Ithamar Conkey and others, to be made a corporation, for the purpose of carrying on the business of making carriages at Amherst, in the county of Hampshire. ... The subscribers are opposed to the petition referred to, because they believe that no preference should be given unnecessarily, to any individuals, carrying on a particular branch of business, by laws exempting them from liabilities, to which others, carrying on the same business, are subject ..."--Page [3].

Includes a remonstrance from inhabitants of East Bridgewater, in the county of Plymouth, which is dated Feb. 22, 1837, and is signed by Charles Rogers, and 21 others; and a remonstrance from citizens of Salem, signed by John D. Hung, coach and gig builders, and more than 50 others. Both remonstrances oppose the passage of a bill to incorporate the Amherst Carriage Company.
