The committee of both Houses to whom was referred the petition of the inhabitants of Charlestown, Peter Tufts, and others, and Abraham Thompson, and others, praying the legislature to inquire into the right the proprietors of the Canal Bridge, the Lechmere Point, and Prison Point Dam Corporations have, to demand toll of persons passing from Charlestown to Cambridge, and if no right exists to take efficient measures to restore the public to the free use of the highway, have had the same under consideration, and ask leave to report the following state of facts, as they appeared to your committee, from the records and parole testimony.
