Summary
1858 report of the Louisiana Legislature Joint Special Committee on Diamond Island Bend Levee during which the committee examined same and made various conclusions and recommendations. The Diamond Island Levee was built by Messrs. Peck & Co. The Committee found that the price paid to Messrs. Ziegler & Marcy for grassing the levee was excessive. Large trees left close to the levee were seen to be a potential problem as they could fall on the levee and cause damage.
