Summary
Report of a Michigan House committee appointed February 3, 1859 to investigate "the condition of the several railroads or railroad companies which have accepted the terms of the act disposing of certain grants of land made to the State of Michigan for railroad purposes, approved Feb. 14, 1857, to ascertain whether there has been a full compliance with the provisions of that act, as also with the provisions of the act under which said railroads or railroad companies were incorporated, being chapter 67, vol. 1 of the compiled laws of the State of Michigan; also, to inquire into and report at as early a day as possible, in reference to the truth of all charges and rumors of bribery and corruption made against each or any of said companies." (Page 1). The report includes the disposition of witnesses.
