Summary
Report of the minority of the Michigan House Committee on Education about a bill related to the Common School Law. The bill under consideration would use funds to support education by different religious groups. While noting that the state does not have the right to dictate the religion in which children should be instructed, the minority indicates that every system of education involves instruction of some religion. The report discusses issues between Protestants and Catholics. The minority of the committee is in support of the bill, noting that in many areas of the state separate schools for Catholics and Protestants could be supported. The report is signed by J. O'Callaghan.
