Summary
Report of a Michigan House committee about a memorial on phonetics. The report defines phonetics, identifies principles of the two systems of phonetics, and discusses the advantages of the systems. The report concludes, "The committee, in view of the evidences in favor of Phonotypy and Phonography, but a tithe of which they have been able to present, are of the opinion that its introduction into our primary schools would be of vast benefit to the educational interests of the State." The report is signed by Nelson Green, William H. Gregory, and Hiram N. Lathrop.
