Summary
Petition from some citizens of Detroit, Michigan, to the state Senate and House of Representatives, about the formation of a building association in Detroit. A brief description of similar associations in Canada is included. Members would pay a subscription for shares, which would allow them to borrow money for the purchase of property. The petitioners request that, "your honorable body to pass an act giving necessary corporate powers to the members of a building society, to be established in Detroit, by the name of 'The Detroit Building Society.'"
