Summary
Corporation was authorized to build a bridge near Sea St. to new land [i.e., fill] in South Boston in the direction of the Dorchester Pike. The bridge was to be built so water could pass through and over the deck during high tide, but was also to be a drawbridge so vessels could sail past it up river. The Act defined the wharves that could be built near the bridge, some of which were to create a boat basin. The Act also defined the land the Corporation could own to build warehouses and chandleries. It could never charge bridge tolls or dockage fees, but could charge for stevedore services and renting the land. The Corporation could issue no less than 500 and up to 1,000 shares with the usual rules for corporate shares. The Corporation was completely responsible for the maintenance and smooth operation of the bridge and wharves. If the bridge was not built within three years, the Act was void.
