Summary
Report of the Maryland House Select Committee on the abolition of position of the state geologist. After review the committee concludes, "the committee cannot see the propriety of reporting a bill 'to abolish the office of State Geologist,' the passage of which would not only be injurious to the best interests of the people, but would have a tendency to discredit the labors of the officer, as well as the character of an enterprize that has gained much credit to our State; and has set an example which other States are, at this very moment, pursuing with the most commendable zeal and energy." (Page 3) The report is signed by J.O. Wharton.
