Summary
Report of the Maryland House Select Committee regarding "the murder of Edward Gorsuch, and the trial before the U.S. Circuit Court for the Eastern district of Pennsylvania, of Castner Hanway, for the crime of High Treason against the United States." (Page 3) Gorsuch was an owner of enslaved persons in Maryland. He was killed when seeking to capture four enslaved persons that had escaped and were in Pennsylvania. Hanway, from Pennsylvania, was present. The report is signed by Jno. E. H. Ligget, Chairman.
