Summary
Report of the Ohio Board of Canal Commissioners regarding the number of days John McCarthy was in service as an engineer on the Ohio Canal. In summary the report indicates that, "Mr. McCarthy has been in the constant employ of the state for the last twelve years, as superintendent and as engineer on the Ohio canal, and in both situations he has exhibited that industry, perseverance, and untiring devotion to the interests of the state, seldom met with in any individual; and which has contributed in a very great degree, if not wholly, to lay the foundation of his present affliction [rheumatic affection]." The report is addressed to the House of Representatives and is signed by Leander Ransom, Act. Com.
