Summary
1857 report of the Select committee on State Prison Contract, which was appointed to, "confer with the lessee of the State Prison, and to ascertain and report to this Assembly the terms upon which he will surrender his contract with the State." (Page 3) The committee also examined the management of the State Prison, including expenses and profits, accommodations, and use of convict labor. The report is signed by Joseph S. Watkins (Chairman) and P.H. Pierce. A minority report at the end is signed by Robt. C. Clark.
