Summary
Message from Wilson Shannon, Governor of Ohio, to the Ohio Senate and House of Representatives, with notification that several volumes of the 1840 census were received. Volumes received were: Compendium of the enumeration of the inhabitants and statistics of the United Slates, as obtained at the Department of State from the returns of the sixth census; Enumeration of the inhabitants of the United States, as corrected at the Department of State in 1840; Statistics of the United States of America, collected and returned by the Marshals of the several Judicial Districts, under the 13th section of the act for taking the sixth census; and volumes containing a census of pensioners for revolutionary and military services, with their names, ages, and places of residence, as returned by the Marshals of the several Judicial Districts, under the act for taking the sixth census. The Governor recommends that the legislature makes provisions for distributing the volumes. The message is dated February 27, 1843.
