Summary
Message from Wilson Shannon, Governor of Ohio, to the Ohio Senate, with a copy of a memorial and resolutions passed by the Michigan Senate and House of Representatives about lake harbors and the commerce of lakes. The topic is the "disastrous storms of the last fall, by the great loss of lives, and immense destruction of properly attending them." Recommendations include harbor improvements, new lighthouses, the addition of bars, and a canal. Waterways mentioned are Lake Michigan and Lake Erie. The Michigan resolutions indicate that appropriations for improvements should be sent to senators in Congress, governors of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, and the territory of Wiskonsan, and others in the United States government.
