Summary
Majority and minority reports of the Special Joint Committee on the Mendocino War. Of note, the Mendocino War was a conflict between the Yuki (also given as Yukia, Yukiah) tribe and White settlers in Mendocino County, California between July 1859 and January 18, 1860. Other tribes mentioned are Shumaya, Yuka, Wilackee, and Yamee. The report includes testimony from residents of Long Valley, Round Valley, Ukiah, Nome Cult Farm, who are farmers, stock-raisers, dealers of horses, cattle, and real estate, overseers, and a painter. They testify that stock was stolen and killed, and persons were killed. The majority report is addressed to the Senate and Assembly of the State of California and is signed by Jasper O'Farrell, W.B. Dickinson (Senate Committee), Wm. B. Maxson, and Phelps (House Committee). The minority report is addressed to "Mr. Speaker" and is signed by Lamar.
