Summary
Communication in response to a resolution of the Senate requesting information from the Warden of the Ohio Penitentiary about contracts for work for prison labor. The report includes information about contracts or agreements with Peter Hayden (saddletree and harness making, coach and harness plating, the manufacture of locks, shovels, and carpenters' and joiners' tools, etc.), Wm . Burdell (tailoring), James Polhemus and John Morrison (manufacture of carpeting, coverlets, and rugs, and wool preparation), A. H. Pinney (cabinetmaking, woodworking, and manufacture of wooden items such as brooms), and R. Ellis (broom making). Information on work done which is not contracted also is included. The report is addressed to the Senate of Ohio and is signed by John Patterson, Warden.
