Summary
Response to a resolution of the Senate that requested information about whether a Fund Commissioner paid a private debt with state stocks. The report indicates that Col. Swayne, a Fund Commissioner, and two others paid a debt with state stocks in 1842. The stocks were not the property of the state, but had been purchased by the parties. It concludes that "there is nothing affording the least ground for an impunity upon his integrity." The report is addressed to the Ohio Senate and is signed by Jos. S. Lake, Acting Commissioner Canal Fund. It is dated January 6, 1845.
