Summary
"The minority of the standing committee on Banks and the Currency, impelled by a sense of duty to their constituents, and to the people of the State at large, and despairing of any such action by the majority of that committee, as will afford a remedy foil the evils of a deficient and depreciated currency, under which the country is now suffering, cannot permit the occasion to pass, without invoking the attention of the House to a more full consideration of this important subject, then it has yet received. In the opinion of the undersigned, we have reached a crisis in the condition of our currency, and of our credit system, as connected and blended therewith, which demands the calm and serious attention of those intrusted with the law-making power, to be followed with prompt and discreet action. ... Resolved, That the standing committee on Banks and the Currency be instructed to report to this House as speedily as practicable, a bill to incorporate the State Bank of Ohio, based upon the principles, and combining the features suggested in the foregoing report."--Pages 1, 5.
