Summary
Includes three reports from the Committee of Finance. The report on procuring specie change (4 pages) was to determine if the banks in North Carolina would supply the state Public Treasurer with specie change to be used in his office, given a recent "run" for the redemption of the Treasury notes. The second report (8 pages) is an examination of the office of the Treasurer, and the books, vouchers, and statements, and is signed by J.G. Shepherd, Chairman. It includes information on debts, taxes, land assessment, and railroad stocks. The third report (1 page) shows the deposits to different banks and the amount of money in the Treasury on 1st November, 1856. It is signed by Geo. D. Boyd, Chairman.
