Summary
1840 Vermont resolutions proposing a one year presidential term, transmitted to the Virginia General Assembly by the Virginia governor. Sent to Virginia for support. The resolution directs senators and representatives in Congress to "procure such an amendment to the constitution of the United States as will restrict the eligibility of the president of the United States in a single term."
