Summary
February 8, 1839 correspondence from the James River and Kanawha Company, to the House of Delegates, which contained various financial statements supporting the ability of the company to pay the interest on a loan for improvements in a pending bill. The report is signed by Joseph C. Cabell, Pres't of the J.R. & K. Company.

Appendices to the narrative report: A. Table of the Tonnage descending and ascending on the James River Canal from 1833 to 1837, both inclusive ; B. [Total tonnage ascending and descending the canal, in coal, pig iron, bar iron, castings, nails, and,other articles made of maleable iron] ; C. Estimate of the Annual Nett Income of the James River and Kanawha Company, on the New Canal, when opened from Richmond to Lynchburg, derivable as well from the application of the New Tariff of Tolls to the present trade between those points, (with such additions on the items of Coal and Iron as may be confidently anticipated prior to the 1st January, 1842,) as from other sources of Revenue.
