Summary
1840 memorial to the General Assembly, seeking legislation to fulfill the bequest of Martin Dawson to the Literary fund. Includes a copy of the will. As part of the will, enslaved persons he owned were emancipated.
Note
Letter of transmittal from David Campbell, President of the Literary Fund, to the Speaker of the House of Delegates, is dated 20th January 1840.
