Summary
1840 Report of the annual meeting of the stockholders of the Farmers' Bank of Virginia, submitted to the General Assembly per its resolutions. Of note, the report discussed the temporary suspension of its specie payments following similar suspensions by banks in Philadelphia and Baltimore; the Farmers' Bank indicated it relied on these institution for redemption of notes.
