Summary
Report and substitute report of the House Committee on Petitions regarding the memorials and petition of the Societies Auxiliary of the American Colonization Society, which solicited and assisted freed blacks to return to Africa. The majority report, which referred to various documents not contained therein, resolved to provide a small annual sum in support of the society, as well as a tax on freed blacks to be used for its work. he minority report was concerned with the undue influence of this "interference" and resolved not to give money to the society.
