Summary
Report of the Joint Select Committee on the contracts between railroads and express and transportation companies. Circa 1866. The committee reviewed the various contracts in which the express companies provided money for repairs in order to have privileges in shipping express matter and freight over the railways. After much discussion, the committee concluded that public safety and other legislative concerns proposed a bill (not included) which would substantially effect these contract. Various documents from the railroads, opposing annulment of the contracts, are included.
