Convention met Oct. 14, 1850, in Hall of Representatives in the Capitol and continued to Nov. 14, 1850, when a recess was taken until Jan. 6, 1851. The General Assembly being then in sessn, the Convention assembled in the Universalist Church, adjorned August 1, 1851.
On Jan. 20, 1851, R.H. Gallaher appointed to publish the debates and proceedings in full as supplements of the regular issues of the Richmond newspapers, and to print in book form a Register of the debates and proceedings. Only one volume covering Jan. 6-March 7, 1851, was printed, because the members were slow in returning the revised and corrected manuscript of their speeches, and because a misunderstanding arose in reagrd to the payment for printing. cf. Swem, bibliography of Va., pt. II, no 13552.
