Communication from the Treasurer of Maryland regarding the claims of Messrs. Barings of London (Baring, Brothers & Co.) against the state regarding advances made by them to the State of Maryland. Numerous statements and correspondence are included as exhibits. D. Claude, Treasurer of Maryland, indicates that "The several amountes paid the Messrs. Barings, on account of their advances, except one and the last of $27,957,55, will be found in the statement accompanying the letter of the Commissioner of Loans, which reported the balance then due to be $27,957.55, and that amount was remitted to him on the 31st October last."
